Sideload TV apps

On Android devices you can download apps directly from Google Play Store and similarly  from Amazon App Store Fire FireTV sticks.

However, not all apps are available on App stores. Some Android apps are not available on Fire devices and vice versa. Also some developers release their apps online and some websites hosts mod versions of popular apps online as well. You can add these apps to devices manually by a process what is called Sideloading.

Side loading is a simple process to “Allow installation of apps that are not available in App Stores” and from unknown sources.

On FireTV. Go to Settings, My Fire TV, Developer options, Apps from Unknown Sources - Turn ON.

Once this setting is completed, You can download “Downloader App” from Google Play and Amazon Appstore.

Launch Downloader App, Enter the URL of the apk file you want to download. See screenshot.

Watch this video for instructions on how to use Downloader App on fireTV.
